Call of Duty fans rejoice as three more of the franchise’s games have finally made their way to Steam, ditching their previous exclusivity on Battle.net. The latest additions to the Steam library are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019), Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (2020), and Call of Duty: Vanguard (2021). To celebrate the launch, the publisher is offering a 50% discount on all three games.
STEAM RELEASES OF CALL OF DUTY GAMES
These three games were the most recent Call of Duty titles to skip Steam releases. Activision had decided to launch the PC version of the games exclusively on their Battle.net platform. However, the publisher returned to Steam with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II last year. The only Call of Duty game missing from Steam now is the 2018-released Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. This game was a multiplayer-only release and may be considered a lower priority port to avoid fragmenting the player base.

CALL OF DUTY STORYLINE
The Call of Duty franchise has been a household name in the gaming industry for years. Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare rebooted the popular sub-series’ storyline, offering a highly praised campaign involving CIA and SAS forces. Developed by Treyarch, Black Ops Cold War took the storyline back to the 1980s, with various popular faces from the sub-series returning as playable characters. Lastly, Sledgehammer’s Vanguard takes players to World War II as part of a special forces team near the end of the war.

To mark the launch of these games on Steam, the publisher has reduced their prices by 50%. While the base price for each game is $59.99, the discounted cost is only $29.99 each. This special Call of Duty Legacy sale will run until March 23.

Call of Duty’s recent focus on expanding to Steam has come at a time when Microsoft is attempting to acquire Activision Blizzard and all its assets. If the $69 billion deal goes through, it is likely that the entire series could end up being added to the Game Pass library.
