Apple is rumored to be preparing to unveil the AirPods Pro 2

According to Apple watcher Mark Gurman, Apple is planning to unveil the second generation AirPods Pro at its "Far Out" event on Wednesday

While the AirPods Pro 2 were expected to arrive later this year, this is the first solid rumor that suggests they could arrive this week

"The new AirPods Pro will update a model that first went on sale in October 2019," according to Gurman's Power On newsletter

Last year, it was reported that the new AirPods Pro would be available in 2022, and the big reveal will now take place on Wednesday

The AirPods Pro 2 are expected to include several upgrades, including the next generation of Apple's H1 processor

There's also the option of getting better sound via Apple's Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC), which eliminates the need for Bluetooth entirely, or by adding Bluetooth 5.2 support, which uses the LC3 codec to transmit audio more efficiently.

The AirPods Pro 2 may also include the Beats Fit Pro's in-ear wing tip design, as well as a charging case that emits a sound when found using Apple's Find My App.

At its event, Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 14 and a trio of new watches, including a pricey "rugged" model

In addition to the new AirPods Pro, this model is designed for athletes who participate in extreme sports.
