Players who have never played the first Overwatch will need to devote a significant amount of time on the sequel, Overwatch 2, in order to unlock the 32 characters that are already available.

According to Blizzard, new Overwatch 2 players will be able to access all game modes and in-game chat after only a few matches,

but they will need to win 50 Quick Play games to access Competitive games and play about 100 games to unlock virtually all of the game's characters.

With the exception of Competitive mode, Blizzard claims that most of the new-player limits are abolished while playing in a group.
