According to recent updates revealed by WABetaInfo, a ‘modified’ label will appear beside the text. Within 15 minutes of sending a message, users can edit it. After 15 minutes user can’t edit their message.

According to the screenshot posted by WABetaInfo, this is how the feature will work on Android.

It is not clear by Whatsapp that when the feature under development will be released publicly to beta testers.

Simply said, the feature will work similarly to WhatsApp’s ‘delete for all’ option, which also has a time limit.

Though we don’t know when WhatsApp will release the upgrade, it won’t be anytime soon because the option to edit sent messages appears to be in the process.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is developing a feature that would allow users to prevent others from screenshotting messages sent as ‘View Once’ on the platform.

As per a report in WABetaInfo, the instant-messaging platform has rolled out the feature with version 2.22.22.3 of WhatsApp update but only for Android beta users as of now. The upcoming feature comes while WhatsApp has been working to strengthen its privacy and security policies.

Users can only remove messages at the present. However, both the sender and the recipient are notified that a message has been removed. WABetaInfo has asked on Twitter if WhatsApp should remove the phrase “This message was deleted” after deleting a message for everyone.

The company recently focused on privacy features, such as the ability to limit screenshots of view-once images and videos.
